Movin on Out

It’s monday and I did not stay at home. I couldn’t I had to be at work. A little more calm now and will most likely pay this month’s rent but they are going to have to cool it on the inspection. Unfortunately I am not able to be there.

So today we are going to go buy a bunch of boxes. yeah i said buy. I need a ton and have not been able to get a free supply. So for the rest of the week I will be packing packing packing.

Moving

Damn, I hate moving. and especially this time since our landlord is evicting us. We did not expect this to happen because of our long standing as a tenant of 7 years not to mention that we have worked to improve the place also. ah well.

We had a choice and it was a hard one to make. We either could fight it, win and stay or let them terminate our lease and move (something that we where thinking of already and planed on doing at the end of our current lease). They both would incur high cost to us financially 3-4000 yams either way.

Fighting meant that we had to hire a lawyer who wanted 2000 up front and had a whole slew of hourly rates. Even with all that we still would of won because of a law on the book that superseded a clause in my lease about the pet. it goes like this; we had our dog longer then 90 day when they decided to send us the notice about the possible eviction. The law states that we would have to have the dog openly and notoriously for that period of time, which we did. Not only that but there are video cameras at each entrance.

Letting them end the lease meant that we would have to find a new place and fork over the first month’s rent, security and broker fee (if applicable). The rent runs to be about the same as the lawyer. Then we will paint the place maybe get new furniture if our other stuff does not work, etc. etc.

So, if we fight we incur those costs, then we plan on moving, which has it’s own costs. Double the money for less the fun. Once we got to this point in our thinking the decision was easy — let them end the lease.

Ok, so we found a place, we send in our info for the background check, credit check, essentially opening our lives to the new landlord — damn! but that another blog entry all together — and our current landlord starts messing with us. Great this does not help us get out. we where waiting for them to take action and evict us. they kept on dithering until we sent in a letter stating our intentions (most likely a mistake, but hey, I want to get out). now they are asking us for rent for this month too. get out of here. then they say that they are going to show up on monday to asses the damage to the house because of the dog! Man that is pissing me off.

Not sure what I am going to do now but one thing is guaranteed … I’m moving.

Registering

Well I see that other people are seeing this site and thank you for your time.

I did get one person who tried to get an account, a John Marshall, but I have deleted this account because he gave a false email address.

Strange I never expected my blog to be of enough interest to warrant joining. But hey more power to ya if you want to join me. Just use a real email address and if I do not know you tell me why, that’s all I ask.

WOW

I have been neglecting this site way too much! I am sorry about that. but I have been working on my wife’s website opaljelly.com. Her site is hosted at home and all PHP. it is also using the next version of B2, Wordpress. While I most likely will install it here. it will take some time till I do.

See you in a couple of weeks… Ian
